Travel Consultant Tuesday: Peter Ferenz

Meet Pete, whose travels to 45 countries (and counting) guide our travelers in choosing the perfect destination for them.

What inspired you to become a Synergy International Travels consultant?
I’m an explorer at heart, so I live and breath travel. After college, I became really skilled at finding the best deals to check out new places. Being able to experience different destinations inspired me to want to become a travel consultant. It’s been eight years of creating memorable travel experiences for my customers, and I haven't looked back since.

How many countries have you visited so far?
After my most recent trip to Morocco, my country count stands at 45 (and counting). Some highlights have been Peru, Egypt, Kenya, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Colombia, and a great deal of Europe. But even if my customers want to visit a destination I haven’t been yet, I love diving into the research process.

When it comes to long-haul travel, Pete excels at helping his customers discover even the most far-flung destinations.

Tell us your most interesting travel story.
A hot air balloon ride in the Masai Mara (Kenya) sticks out as one of my most memorable travel experiences. Seeing the all the magnificent wildlife and the sunrise over the mountains in nearby Tanzania was truly a once-in-a lifetime experience. From the hot air balloon we saw lions, hyenas, elephants, and all types of antelope. When we came back on land, we had an amazing experience with a curious baby zebra who came within a few feet of us. She had definitely never seen humans before, and it was so cool to be that close to wildlife.

While countless memories have been created abroad, Pete recalls his African safari a highlight.

Then, we set out for our bush breakfast which was an experience in its own. We toasted champagne overlooking the horizon of the Masai Mara with elephants in the distance. It was truly an amazing experience and something I will never forget.

What are the advantages to booking with you versus online?
My extensive product knowledge sets me apart from an online booking experience. I work with my customers one-on-one to narrow down the best type of vacation for them. Getting to know travelers’ preference allows me to make tailored recommendations and help to eliminate the confusion and headache of searching online.

By getting to know his clients' interests and preferences on a deeper level, Pete is able to pair them with the perfect destination.

What do you think people would be most surprised to learn about your role as a travel consultant?
People are sometimes surprised that travelers still work with travel agents. They don't realize that I can make it less stressful for them to find the right destination and right type of trip to give them the best overall travel experience. Also, sometimes they don't realize we book just about everything including airfare, resorts/hotels, cruise, and tours. We also have our exclusive packages such as our Escapes and EURObreaks that no other company can offer. These products also enhance my customers travel experience with inclusions like a Travel Butler.

Whether you're interested in the nature of Canada's West Coast or the hustle and bustle of a European city, Pete can help.
