Puerto Rico

From incomparable natural wonders to historic Old San Juan, Puerto Rico boasts the best of both worlds. Endless beauty can be found in every pocket of the island and the quaint, idyllic old city is as much a dip into history as it is into the modern-day culture – 500 years in the making.

Cave in Puerto Rico

Naturally Stunning

More than just another island paradise: though Puerto Rico does feature endless sunshine and 300 immaculate beaches across 272 miles of coastline – the island also showcases 36 nature reserves, 19 state forests and five wildlife refuges, offering visitors a chance to immerse in an incredible amount of environmentally protected areas.

Three bioluminescent bays also light up naturally, creating fluorescent waters that are a marvel to look at in person. These glow-in-the-dark waters are true wonders, with Mosquito Bay in Vieques as the brightest bioluminescent ecosystem in the world. Visiting this is literally breathtaking.

El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. Forest System means that this rainforest is the only one in the world that you can see without a passport. Worth the visit alone, these 28,000 acres feature 240 species of plants, rare fauna, and majestic rivers, streams, and waterfalls.

Natural Beauty in Puerto Rico

La Cueva Del Indio in Arecibo is another natural wonder where the indigenous Taíno people used to gather. This cave opens up to the horizon line with limestone walls that feature carvings that date back to a time before Columbus discovered the land. From any angle you experience this cave, the views will be insta-worthy and awe-inspiring.

Old San Juan

Discover Old San Juan

Technically the second oldest city in America and dating back to the 16th century, Old San Juan makes a visit here a magical immersion into the past. Walk the cobblestone streets back in time and discover stunning colonial architecture, fortresses, bright-colored buildings and World Heritage Sites designated by UNESCO. The old city also features the island’s best museums for a comprehensive understanding of its historical importance, plus exquisite restaurants, shopping and a bustling nightlife. The supposed “walled city” is wide open for a whole lot of fun with the birthplace of the Piña Colada and salsa music around the streets included.

After dark, Old San Juan really comes to life and transforms into an exciting and fast-paced town lined with cocktail bars and clubs. Rooftop bars let you see everything with views that stretch miles. To experience a world-class bar, stop into La Factoría, an award-winning spot that’s known as one of the best bars in the world. And when you’re hungry, Old San Juan always has an authentic bite to eat that you can sit down and enjoy or grab and go, like classic “mofongo", a delicious dish made with fried plantains and stuffed with shrimp, chicken or beef – this treat is a must.

From live music to club music, to salsa dancing to a packed dance floor moving to the beat – Old San Juan is as much a celebration of life as it is a dip back into history.

Old San Juan at Night

Endless natural beauty stretches across the entirety of the island, and Old San Juan will take you into the heart of the culture, history and modern-day fun for an eclectic experience you will never forget. Now grab your bathing suit and get ready to Discover Puerto Rico.
